AB181E-20

This new processor is very exciting for applications where robotics are to be driven at low cost. But also for all other highly integrated applications where a combination of processing power peripheral and maths is required.

The main differences between the AB180 and the AB181E-20 are:

On Chip
Sync. I/O
Fixed Point
Arithmetic Unit
Fully Programmable
Baud Rate
Improved Instruction
Pipeline
Max Clock
AB180-20 Yes O requires
correct X-Tal
O 20 MHz
AB181E-20
Yes Yes Yes Yes 22 MHz

The AB181E-20 has two on-chip Asynchronous Serial Communication Interfaces (ASCIs) combined with a programmable baud rate generator to allow the selection of any baud rate from the CPU crystal oscillator and the Phase Locked Loop.

In addition the AB181E-20 contains a fixed point arithmetic unit that can perform 32-bit multiplications and accumulation. It is also capable of evaluating the expression:

y = y + Ax + Bx + Cx
n+1 n n n-1 n-2

This type of expression is common in control systems incorporating PID loop filters in the feedback path. All values and results are 32 bits wide, a flag indicating an overflow condition on either the accumulator or the multiplier is available.
